10 Cloverfield Lane has recently grabbed headlines for its mysterious and intriguing Viral Marketing. However, in a recent article with Entertainment Weekly regarding the newest 'Cloverfield' Movie, J.J. Abrams dropped a few hints about his plans for future stories. His comments strongly suggest a Cloverfield universe of connected stories, and we have replicated the quotes from the article below:
I would be lying if I didn’t say there was something else that, if we’re lucky enough to do it, could be really cool that connects some stories…There is something else that we’d like to do, and hopefully we’ll get a shot
brams’ only clue is that there is a “larger conceit” at play here. “This is just this movie, and it’s only two films that we’re talking about right now,” Abrams said. “There is something else that we’d like to do, and hopefully we’ll get a shot.”
J.J. Abrams seems to be setting up something that may well translate into the next big kaiju franchise. 10 Cloverfield Lane has yet to come out to theaters but indicators in viral marketing are strongly hinting at the presence of 'Clover' somewhere in the story.
