Cloverfield 3 aka. God Particle, the third instalment in the sci-fi thriller Cloverfield movie saga may debut exclusively on Netflix this April and bypass a full blown theatrical release entirely, new reports suggest!
THR are reporting that the studio producing the Cloverfield series and God Particle, Paramount Pictures are currently in talks with Netflix regarding acquisition of the title.
The reasoning behind the switch from theatrical release to streaming stems from a mixture of rumors which insinuate Paramount chairman Jim Gianopulos did not consider God Particle a good film to release theatrically. Additionally there's been talks that producer J.J. Abrams was intending on ironing out the film's kinks, but was unable to do so with his new commitments to the final Star Wars film in the Skywalker saga, which he took over from Colin Trevorrow. That, along with Paramount's own projections have led the studio to consider abandoning a worldwide theatrical run for Cloverfield 3. However, a deal has yet to be reached at the time of writing this article.
God Particle is currently set for an April 20th release date.
